CPU (Central Processing Unit)- It is the "brain" of the computer, controls the action and carry out the instruction in the system of the computer.
Motherboard- It the main circuit board in a computer, mostly output devices are plugged into this so called "motherboard".
RAM (Random Access Memory)- RAM is the working of a computer, if RAM is turned off while you save your data, it will not save, so RAM's work is to save data on your computer and access that data when needed.
ROM (Read Only Memory)- The name says mostly all about it, the memory can only be read but not change and it will save when turned off, to go more in depth the memory are permanent.
Hard Disk Drive- A HDD reads data and write it on the hard disk.
Video Graphics Card- It display images/pictures on the computer screen and can be saved as data.
GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)- It's a single chip processor and it recreate object when a 3D scene is redrawn.
Sound card- It is found on a laptop or computer, it allow you to listen to music by plugging in your headset, speaker, or amplifier. the sound card enable the computer to manipulate and output the sounds.
Video Monitor- It display images and texts in a screen which creates a "video", video monitor allow the user to watch videos that are similar in television.
Keyboard and Mouse- The keyboard allows the user to type down words, numbers, and commands to input in the computer, so computer will output what you typed down. The mouse allows you to move around in the screen and the right click is to click on files and left click is to refresh the computer, etc.
Network card- It is used to allow the computer to plug and connect to the internet.
CD ROM / DVD ROM- DVD ROM has more storage than CD ROM and can display digital videos. CD ROM has less storage and can display videos.
CD RW / DVD RW- CD Rewritable, able to erase, written, and rewritten by the user. DVD RW, allows user to erase the video and is re-recordable.
USB Card (Universal Serial Bus)- It allows you to save data on it and reinstall it when you need to use that data. It also saves GB in your computer, camera, etc.
PCI Expansion Port- It add in more expansion capabilities in the computer and let PCI slot plug to the motherboard.
Flash Memory- It is a re writable that is a combination of RAM and hard drive. Also, it allow the user to erase one block instead of only one byte at a time.
Power Supply Unit & Fan- It supplies power to the computer.
Case- it is made out of metal or plastic and its a box that contains component of the computer system. Lower and Upper Case are used to either make the words on the keyboard Upper or Lower case.
Scanner- It scans photo or images onto the computer and digitizes them.
Digital Camera- User takes photo and can upload it to the computer.
Web Cam- User use it to interact with each other if both have web cam. User can upload video onto the computer after recording.
Card Reader- It was used to read punch cards or to read magnetic strips on credit cards.
Speakers- It can be connected to your device or computer, wired or not, allow user to hear the sound from a distance.
Router- The router allow multiple networks to connect, it has a "gateway" where the networks can be located.
Wireless Access Point- Its like a communication hub that lets your wireless device to connect to a wired LAN.
The difference between RAM and ROM is RAM is a Random Accessing memory which lets user save their data and can not be automatically saved when turned off and for ROM, the user can only read the memory and it'll save the data even if its turned off.
The difference between DVD ROM and DVD RW is that one can display digital videos and the other can erase and recreate the video.
DVD ROM capacity in GB is 4.7 gigabytes.
CD ROM capacity in MB is 700 MB.
The advantages of using USB system to connect it to other devices is that it carries power which will support the device when connected.
The reason why you would want a GPU when playing a video game on a computer is because the GPU will recreate the object when the 3d scene is redrawn and mostly a game with good graphic is better.
The typical memory capacity for a expensive video card is 16GB found in gaming PC.
The video card in a PC makes a difference because the better the video card the faster and better graphic it will display and be played. For video games that are display or played sometimes are not better than a gamer PC because they can buy a expensive video card which allow all the games they play have a better difference.
Floppy disk is a removable, portable magnetic disk on which data and program can be stored.
Flash memory device advantages; its smaller, write and read fast, and uses less power than traditional hard disk driver. Disadvantage is that it it has a limit writing and erase before failing while magnetic disk can have record data stored for both sequential and direct accessing.
The capacity of memory card in today digital camera are 32 GB which is called Secure Digital High Capacity, also known as SDHC.
